Saving time with templates

Postby Forum Admin » Wed Feb 18, 2009 12:24 pm

If you want a collection of components to appear on multiple prototype pages, you should create a template.

Templates are fixed in position, and are a good choice for headers, subnavigation, and other functionality where the position does not change from design to design. To add a template to a design, you simply drag it onto the Editor canvas. Changes you make to a template automatically propagate everywhere its used in a project.

Converting Components to a Template

In the course of working on a design, you might decide that some of the components can be reused elsewhere and should be converted to a template.

To convert components to a template, follow these steps:

    - Select the components to convert. To select multiple components use Shift + click or the rubber band feature.
    - Convert the components to a template. Select Convert to Template from the File menu or the right-click context menu. The New Template dialog opens. Specify a name and click Save. The template is automatically assigned to the design, and is included in the Library.
